Washers Game is one of the great fun-filled pastimes. Washers game appeals to all types of people, from teens to seniors. It is a fairly simple game and the players should get acquainted with the washers game rules for 3 hole washer boards game from the start. Washers is a lot like horseshoes, but the goal is to toss the washer (a small round metal disk) into one of the holes on the opponent’s board.

In this game, the two washers boards are placed on a flat surface 10 feet apart from each other.  We have pitching areas on either side of each box and the foul line is parallel to the front edge of the box.

The players can toss from any point behind or beside their own box. However, they have to take all their turns from the same side after they’ve made a choice in the first toss.

There are two sets of 3 washers. Every team has differently colored washers.

Scoring

  • 5 points are made for a washer that goes inside the farthest hole
  • 3 points are for washers tossed into the center hole.
  • 1 point is for getting the washer into the closest washer.
  • 0 points are for the washer bouncing onto the platform.

Note that a tossed washer may knock other washers on the board into the hole. In this case, the player who originally threw the washer is awarded the appropriate points.

The washer that is tossed onto the board should be removed before the next player tosses the washer.

The score is calculated by the cancellation. The difference between the two teams is the score of the winning team which starts as the first player in the continuing next round. The game ends when one team reaches 21 points.

You can also opt for doubles play with a total of 4 players in two teams. Make sure all the players are aware of the rules of the game from the start of the play.

The first team to score 21 points wins and they can choose to play first in the next round of the game.
